Team spotlight - Ciara McWilliams

For this Team Spotlight we sit down with Ciara McWilliams. As the most recent addition to our team she joins as our national sales manager for Ireland. Her passion for design and people has helped lead her way into the acoustics industry where she finds great satisfaction helping bring projects to life. Read below for the full interview:

What does your role entail?

 

I’m lucky to be representing Autex Acoustics throughout the whole island of Ireland. My role entails supporting Architects, Designers, Installers, Joinery, and Construction Companies from the initial design concept to completion. It’s really exciting to be engaging on high profile projects throughout the various sectors and to be on hand for full training and support to all of our clients.

 

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

 

As someone with a real passion for people and all things design, I love getting to speak with the respected specifiers leading the way in architecture and design. Listening to the knowledge they have in their specialised fields is truly fascinating and inspiring to me. Every day brings an exciting new challenge.

What job did you want when you were younger?

 

To be a singer or actress. I had found my love of the stage through musicals growing up and was a keen member of a local amateur musical society in my hometown of Galway. Having landed leading lady roles in local productions at a young age, I was enthused. However, my parents thought it was wise for me to attend college and receive education to establish a stable career first. 

 

How did you get into this industry?

 

I started working in the construction industry at the age of 25 through a global manufacturer that was looking to fill a role in the West of Ireland as an Area Manager. They took a chance on a young girl that didn’t stop asking questions throughout her interview and was eager to learn. Soon into that role I realised that this was the career path for me. I feel my personality is suited to this sector and although sometimes negotiating can be challenging, it is extremely rewarding to be able to provide solutions and grow business relationships.

 

What’s a common question you get asked at work?

 

The most common question I get asked is the background of our company. It is fantastic to be a part of a company that evolves continuously through innovation, listens to our customers’ needs, and offers support which is one of the many reasons we are the leaders in our field.
